The Venice Road Entrance to Red Mountain Park and the High Ore Line connection is now open to the public.
The High Ore Line Trail starts in Midfield at the Jefferson County Western Health Center and runs three miles along an old railroad line where it ties into Red Mountain Park’s new entrance and parking lot on Venice Road. The trail is mostly flat and off road and provides an accessible place to walk or bike in Greater Birmingham’s outdoors.
Directions to the Venice Road Entrance parking lot:
From I-65 Lakeshore Parkway Exit: West on Lakeshore Parkway for 3.7 miles (past RMP sign). Right on Sydney Drive/Wenonah Oxmoor Road. Right on Venice Road. Straight for approximately 0.5 miles. Right into parking lot.
From Ishkooda Wenonah Road: Southeast on Venice Road from Dan’s Grocery. Left into parking lot.
